The Irish Prison Service

In March 2010 Sperrin Metal gained status as a preferred supplier to the Irish Prison Service for a four year period. 

There are 14 institutions in the Irish Prison System and Sperrin have already secured various locker installations i.e. Staff Lockers, Visitor Lockers and Canine Department Lockers in many of these outlets.  After a thorough review of all locker suppliers, The Irish Prison Service decided to choose lockers from Sperrin Metal for a number or their requirements based on our all welded constructed and quality manufactured product.  Working under tight deadlines, we manufactured the lockers to the exact specification and they were delivered within two weeks from the date of order.

On each occasion, Sperrin reviewed the various requirements and came up with solutions that meet their needs cost-effectively.  Each section had different requirements because of a wide range of items to be stored in each locker type.

In 2010 we supplied two departments within Wheatfield Prison with different locker types to a value exceeding £40K.  In June 2010 we provided the IPS with a CAD drawing illustrating an elevated (Three Door Lockers) and layout drawing (139 No Lockers) for their locker equipment room.  We had the ability to offer an alternative from our standard height of 1800mm and increased the locker height to 2200mm thus maximising the use of space available.

In addition we met their requirements in November 2010 for their New Changing Room.  On this occasion we had a confined space which needed approximately 180 No Single Door Lockers.  With our manufacturing facility we were able to supply a narrower locker to suit their layout (making allowances for piping and ducting) and we confirmed colours available.  Again quality and timely delivery were key elements for the Irish Prison Service in providing this service.

We have a long history of supplying lockers to the prison service and as such the high level of trust and the security exercised around these timely installations has been key to our ability in securing new contracts with them.

In addition, specialisation and customisation are what raise our storage solutions above the rest.
