Sperrin Buy Over Helmsman
We are delighted to announce that Sperrin Metal has bought over Helmsman, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of personal storage, changing room equipment, electronic access and guest management systems.
The company was in operation for over 250 years and was a major employer in the Suffolk area employing a workforce of over 100.
Sperrin Metal acquired the business due to the high profile and reputation Helmsman enjoys in the locker and leisure trade. Throughout its history the Helmsman brand has become synonymous with quality, reliability and value for money.
Director Peter Gormley expressed his belief that this merger will bring additional benefits to Sperrin’s customers as we are now able to offer a turnkey solution to all leisure storage requirements. We are now therefore able to offer the following products:
- Waterproof Lockers
- Cubicles
- Glass Cubicle and Washroom Systems
- HOBOband (wrist security system)
Having a business in the same line we hope that the organisation can develop and continue to hold a strong position in the marketplace.

Charity Parachute Jump!
Sperrin wish to congratulate their NI Sales Executive Yvonne Mallon on her recent charity adventure. Yvonne took part in a parachute jump on Saturday 12th May to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Relief. She tackled her fear of flying for this worthy cause and successfully completed the challenge. Well done Yvonne.

IMHX Success
Following our attendance at IMHX 2007, we are delighted to report that our stand was a renowned success. The show gave us the opportunity to meet and greet a large scale of prospective customers from a variety of industries. Our attendance reinforced Sperrin’s position as one of the key manufacturer’s in this industry, with an influx of new enquires confirming this to us. Our stand structure was popular, as it physically displayed our wide product range giving people the chance to view the product quality for themselves. Visitors commented on the effort Sperrin had put into the exhibition and we as a company are very proud of all the work put into this exhibition from all areas of the factory – both seen and unseen.

Sperrin Metal recently sponsored the Setanta Cup match played at Windsor Park between Linfield and Derry City. Jackie Smyth the Area Sales Manager invited guests along who thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the hospitality of Linfield Football Club. Afterwards the invited guests were entertained in the Boardroom where Linfield vice-chairman Peter Lunn thanked Sperrin Metal for their sponsorship of the match. The game itself finished on a 2-1 scoreline to the home team.

Sperrin Exhibit at IMHX
IMHX 2007 is the No. 1 market place for companies that sell, market or promote materials handling and supply-chain products, services, applications and solutions. This March, Sperrin Metal will become part of the largest gathering of materials handling and logistics professionals in the UK. The event runs from the 13th - 16th March 2007 at the NEC Birmingham.
